About the Winery

Domaine des Baumard

As one of the most prestigious wineries in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine des Baumard is a gem in Anjou, France. Spanning nearly 40 hectares of vineyards, the winery boasts an impressive variety of French grapes including Chenin blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Grolleau. Yet, it's their ability to craft exquisite, hand-picked wines that truly sets them apart.

Dating all the way back to 1634, Domaine des Baumard has in its possession a rich heritage steeped in tradition. The winery leapt to global prominence in the 1950s. Managed by the highly skilled Jean Baumard, his expertise was often called upon as a consultant to other French wineries. His son, Florent Baumard took over in 1990. Florent has continued to uphold the family's reputation for the production of fine, organic wines.

Sitting gracefully along the Layon river, the vineyards produce some of Europe's most beautiful wines. Domaine des Baumard is known for its virtuosic handling of the Chenin blanc grape, consistently achieving a balance between sweetness and acidity in their wines.

The winery's practices are indicative of a respect for the delicate balance of nature. Using minimal intervention techniques, they allow the grapes to fully express their terroir under the Loire Valley skies. Wines are harvested manually, and then fermented using naturally occurring yeast.

Visitors to Domaine des Baumard can partake in a memorable journey through the vineyards, enjoy a one-of-a-kind tasting experience in the cellar and gain insight into the prodigious wine-making legacy.

In conclusion, Domaine des Baumard is more than a winery, it's a testament to the endurance of French winemaking tradition combined with an unrelenting pursuit of quality: producing some of the world's finest wines in the simplicity and purity of their expression.

And who could forget it's breathtaking views and welcoming atmosphere which add to the charm of visiting this remarkable winery.
