El Escoces Volante El Cismático wine is a majestic Spanish creation from an award-winning, family-run vineyard. The bouquet is intense with dark fruits and spices, whilst the palate hosts a harmonious blend which renders flavours of mocha, dark chocolate and rich fruit. This splendidly full-bodied wine presents a glorious lingering finish, boasting balanced acidity and pleasing tannins. Aged in French oak barrels, it's a wonderfully complex, smooth wine with depth and elegance. Crafted for true wine connoisseurs, El Escoces Volante El Cismático perfectly embodies the spirit of its region - an epitome of the opulent, vibrant character of Spanish wines.

Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red in colour, the nose is still very youthful, deep and complex with constantly evolving aromas: from wild red fruits, beets, dried orange peel and a light touch of mountain herbs as the wine opens up. Fine tannins, nuanced, slightly lighter and fresher than previous years.

El Escocés Volante is a prestigious winery nestled in the heart of Calatayud, Spain. This beguiling location is where internationally renowned Scottish winemaker, Norrel Robertson, has been producing his award-winning wines since 2003; hence the term El Escocés Volante, which beautifully translates to "The Flying Scotsman".

The flying aspect of Robertson’s epithet reflects the nomadic aspect of his earlier career, which he spent travelling and honing his skills and knowledge in different vineyards around the world. Now grounded in Spain’s rich vineyard country, Robertson devotes his time to creating exciting, full-bodied, fruit-forward wines that wonderfully encapsulate the terroir of the region.

El Escocés Volante is particularly famed for its Grenache-based wines. Renowned for their rich flavour, they convey a superb combination of potency and elegance. Refined over years of dedicated cultivation and vinification, the Grenache grape truly shines in Robertson's skilled hands.
