Product Notes

Schloss Johannisberg Gelblack Trocken Riesling is a sublime German wine, characterised by its radiant golden hue and compelling minerality. The nose presents unmistakable aromas of crisp green apple, citrus fruits and floral notes, underpinned by a compelling hint of petrol. Upon tasting, it reveals a strong and balanced acidity, complemented by peach, lime and slate-like undertones in a robust finish. This well-aged, medium-bodied Riesling pairs perfectly with spicy cuisine, fish or poultry dishes, and has the potential for considerable longevity. It offers a sip of elegance steeped in tradition from the heart of Germany's Rhine Valley.

Tasting Notes

This excellent dry Riesling combines great minerality with lots of fresh citrus and subtle tropical fruit. It has great texture and intensity with a long, generous finish that is extremely clean and refreshing.

About the Winery

Schloss Johannisberg

Located amidst the magnificent landscape of the Rhine River valley and its lush vineyards, Schloss Johannisberg winery is one of the most notable and esteemed wineries in the world. Nestled in Germany's famed Rheingau wine region, this historical winery has been crafting exquisite wines for over 900 years and is renowned for its outstanding Rieslings.

Schloss Johannisberg has a storied history that is tightly intertwined with the evolution of wine making. In the 18th century, it established itself as the very first winery that focused solely on the production of Riesling wine. Today, the winemakers uphold this tradition, and their commitment to the earthy and aromatic grape varietal has led to recognition on a global scale.

Spanning over 35 hectares, the vineyard thrives upon a unique combination of Taunus quartzite soil and ideal microclimate conditions, which imbue the wines with a distinct character and exceptional taste.
