It exhibits an alluring melange of rich, dark fruits and spices balanced splendidly with softer, vibrant and peachy characters from the Viognier. About the Winery

Langmeil

Langmeil Winery, situated in the heart of the picturesque Barossa Valley in South Australia is a spectacular fusion of timeless tradition, innovative spirit and regional distinction. Spanning over a lush expanse, it takes its name from the historical hamlet of Langmeil, which was established by German migrants in the 1840s.

Its wagon-wheel-barred gates open onto rows upon rows of flourishing vineyards offering a splendid panorama. Undoubtedly, the star attraction of Langmeil Winery is its Freedom Vineyard, renown for being the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard in the world. Planted in 1843, these rare, gnarled vines deliver the most beautifully complex and concentrated fruit.

Throughout its history, Langmeil Winery has been steadfast in its devotion to old-world winemaking techniques: hand-pruning, hand-picking and traditional open vat fermentation have all played a vital role in crafting high-quality vintages year after year. At the same time, the winery does not shy from employing cutting-edge methodology when it comes to sustainability, conservation and reducing waste, creating a balance that has won it an esteemed reputation.

From their rich, full-bodied Shiraz, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon to the crisp Rieslings known for their bright acidity and mineral characteristics: Langmeil's offerings are a testament to the terroir's unique characteristics. Brilliantly crafting wines that reflect the soul of the Barossa Valley is indeed, a task that the winery achieves with aplomb.

A trip to Langmeil Winery is incomplete without a visit to the cellar door. Housed in the authentic 1860’s cobblestone trading room visitors are enthralled by the traditional charm and character of the establishment. Here, guests are able to taste test and purchase their award-winning wines whilst marvelling at the winerys historical ambience.

Langmeil Winery: it's not just a winery, it’s a time-honoured ode to the art of wine making; a place where innovation meets rich tradition, to bring to your glass the unique essence of the Barossa Valley.
