Product Notes

Le Vieux Pin Winery Equinoxe Syrah is a bold and sophisticated wine hailing from Canada. Renowned for its elegant balance, it boasts a distinguished palate of plum, blackberry and peppery spice, further enriched with lingering notes of espresso and dark chocolate. Its deep ruby hue gives way to a full-bodied experience, enriched by smooth tannins and a delightful earthiness. Matured in French oak barrels, this luxurious Syrah encapsulates old-world charm and new-world audacity, reflecting the vision of Le Vieux Pin Winery. Revel in this exquisite wine's long, velvety finish and intricate layers of depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes

The 2014 Équinoxe Syrah is comprised of fruit grown in various sub-appellations in the South Okanagan Valley: the Black Sage Bench and Osoyoos West Bench, East Bench and Lake District. A traditionally made Syrah in the sense that the sum is considered greater than the parts (lieu-dit trumping single cru à la Chez Jamet, JL Chave, Clape). The resulting effort is a very complex wine with a medium+ garnet colour that perfectly and effortlessly combines elements of both old world and new world styles. This monumental wine is at the same time feminine and masculine – it has grace and power, spice and florals, game and savoury notes. Yin and yang come together to showcase a perfectly balanced Syrah.

About the Winery

Le Vieux Pin Winery

Set amidst the breath-taking landscape of British Columbia, Le Vieux Pin Winery is a destination that connoisseurs of superior wine should not miss. With its name inspired by a solitary majestic old pine tree that is reminiscent of the timelessness and elegance of traditional French wineries, this vineyard is a heart-warming blend of nature’s bounty and skilled craftsmanship.

The winery occupies a vast, fruitful swathe of sprawling vineyards, resplendent with perfect rows of vines nurtured under the nurturing embrace of the sun. Le Vieux Pin's solid foundation in traditional French wine-making techniques is apparent in their commitment to sustainable viticulture, adherence to authenticity and respect for nature's idiosyncrasies. Each bottle produced bears the seal of this unyielding dedication within it.

Flawlessly blending Old World elegance with New World flair, Le Vieux Pin emerges as a virtuoso in the realm of distinguished and premium wines. Their variety encompasses the subtle nuances of white wines, the bold flush of reds, and the understated effervescence of rose wines. The popular Ava has been praised for its delightful fusion of Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne, while the Syrah Cuvee Violette is awash in resplendent notes of crushed violets and black cherries.

However, Le Vieux Pin is more than just a winery. A visit to the estate unveils a riveting visual experience as well: the modish tasting room, the rustic allure of the wine cellar, the relaxing splay of european-style outdoor patios that offer a sweeping view of the vineyards.

As a brand, Le Vieux Pin underscores that wine is not just a drink, but a narrative of the terroir the grapes and a testament to man’s mastery over the craft of winemaking. After all, what better way, to appreciate the complexity of wine than to luxuriate in sips and savour the enchanting symphony of flavours crafted in the heartland of beautiful British Columbia.
