Product Notes

A delicately woven blend from the esteemed Penfolds vineyards, Bin 600 Cabernet Shiraz is synonymous with elegance and finesse. This superb Australian wine marries the full-bodied structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the silky tannins of Shiraz, creating an exquisitely balanced symphony for the palate. Radiating a bold ruby hue, it unveils rich flavours of ripe plums, blackcurrant, and refined mint chocolate, all underscored by subtle oak nuances. Its lingering finish reveals a compelling fusion of fruit and spice. This is an opulent, multilayered wine that enchants both seasoned connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

Tasting Notes

COLOUR - Soft red/purple core with a ruby rim. NOSE - A nose that immediately seduces. Initial scents of steamed fig/treacle pudding which transition into fragrant roses. This floral note then entwines with the warm, buttery aroma of French pastries — freshly baked brioche and blueberry danish. The core fruits of boysenberry meld with the innate characters of Cabernet and Shiraz. A savoury complexity emerges through pepper crusted ham and pastrami, while green peppercorns provide a fresh, spicy lift. PALATE - On tasting, the palate reveals itself to be both creamy and soft, with bright fruits that promise immediate gratification. This wine exhibits lovely drinkability; it’s balanced and fine-tuned. Cherry Ripe unfurls across the tongue, followed by a nod to strawberries and cream sweets.

About the Winery

Penfolds

Established in the heart of Adelaide in 1844, Penfolds winery is one of Australia's oldest and most renowned wine-producing estates. Over the centuries, this impressive winery has crafted an invincible reputation for producing wines of exceptional quality, notably its world-famous Grange and St. Henri Shiraz.

Thomas Penfold and his wife Mary embarked on wine production at their Magill Estate after immigrating from England. Penfold’s initial intention was to craft fortified wines in the style of those he admired in Europe, specifically, his cherished homeland. However, over time the potential for producing quality table wines was realised and Penfolds has since become a global icon.

Among the winery's remarkable collections, the most celebrated offering is undeniably the 'Penfolds Grange'. This Shiraz wine, crafted by the pioneering winemaker Max Schubert is among the most coveted and enduring labels on the global wine stage. Known for its rich intensity and remarkable longevity the Grange is synonymous with prestige in the world of wine.

Nestled amongst the rolling Adelaide Hills, the winery is a sight to behold. With its distinctive historic charm, juxtaposed with cutting-edge wine-making techniques, Penfolds has managed to maintain an enchanting balance of tradition and innovation. Visitors are greeted by lush vineyards, meticulously tended to ensure the production of quality grapes. A walk through the Penfolds cellar door is an immersion into history; as each stone and barrel tell tales of wine craftsmanship honed over centuries.

What's interesting however, is Penfolds winery's firm belief in multi-regional blending. Unlike most wineries who staunchly adhere to single-vineyard or single-region wines, Penfolds uses grapes from various regions across the country. To the experts at Penfolds, the synergy resulting from the blend ensures a profound depth and complexity of flavour that simply cannot be achieved otherwise.

In conclusion, Penfolds winery is an iconic cornerstone of the Australian wine industry. A visit to this elegant estate, is not merely about tasting wines of world class quality, but also accompanied by a journey through a labyrinth of history and the passionate narrative of a craft perfected over time. A haven for wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike!
