Chateau Calon Segur Marquis de Calon Segur 2017

£35.00

This full-bodied Bordeaux wine has an intense ruby color with violet hues. The nose is quite concentrated with aromas of black fruits, especially cassis, as well as notes of spice and toast. On the palate, the wine is well-balanced with ripe tannins and a long, persistent finish. This is a classic Bordeaux wine that will improve with age and should be cellared for at least 5-10 years.

Chateau Calon Segur has a long history dating back to the 13th century, when it was part of the Saint Estephe fiefdom. The estate was then passed down through generations of noble families until it was eventually purchased by the Marquis de Calon in 1825. The chateau was completely renovated and modernized under his ownership, and he is credited with bringing Bordeaux winemaking to the forefront of the industry. Chateau Calon Segur has been producing wine since 1855, and today it is considered one of the leading Grand Cru Classé estates in Bordeaux. The wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, and it is aged in oak barrels for 18-24 months.
