Product Notes

Alpha Zeta R Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso is a bold Italian red wine exhibiting hearty, authentic flavours. Its full-bodied palate offers intricate layers of dark cherry and plum, underscored by a delicate spiciness and hints of chocolate. This wine is made using the traditional 'Ripasso' technique, which involves a second fermentation on leftover Amarone skins, lending extra depth and complexity. Aged for around 12 months in oak barrels, this vino develops a softness and notable balance, making it both light and rich. Best enjoyed paired with robust dishes, it is the epitome of Italian winemaking mastery.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red in colour, this Ripasso opens with a concentrated nose full of aromas of red fruits and dried cherries. Full-bodied on the palate, it shows lovely balance between an opulent cherry-pie character and supple structure. The finish is long with a mouthwatering bitter-cherry twist.

About the Winery

Alpha Zeta

Nestled in the sun-bathed hills of Veneto, Italy, the Alpha Zeta winery is a perfect amalgamation of old-world charm and cutting-edge vinification techniques. Steeped in cultures of an ancient winemaking tradition, this robust establishment produces some of the finest and most distinctive Italian wines that are highly sought after on the global stage.

Founded by British Master of Wine, David Gleave, and celebrated winemaker, Matt Thomson, the duo have devoted their skills and passion to crafting the essence of the Veneto region into exquisite bottles of wine. With vineyards situated on fertile volcanic soils, Alpha Zeta is blessed with a unique terroir, abundant in minerality and rich flavours. A strong advocate for sustainable farming methods, the winery diligently preserves the integrity of the soil and the overall environment to ensure the quality of their wines.

Alpha Zeta’s extensive portfolio boasts an array of diverse varietals, from aromatic Soave to rich and bold Amarone. What sets Alpha Zeta apart is their unwavering commitment to capture the characteristic flavours of local grapes. By implementing modern techniques to traditional winemaking, they create exceptional wines that render a vivid snapshot of Italian terroir. These wines embody the sun-drenched landscapes, the rich, rustic flavours, and, of course, the Italian spirit.

However it's the depth of the wine, the complexity in each sip that sets Alpha Zeta apart from other wineries. Each bottle manages to tell a unique story of the land, climate, and traditional human touch: a narrative that begs to be savoured over a good meal and even better company.

Standout wines such as the Alpha Zeta 'A' Amarone and Prelude Rosato truly encapsulate the subtle craftsmanship and expert blending that the winemakers at this artisanal winery have mastered. For a touch of Italy's finest viticultural offerings, venture no further than Alpha Zeta Winery.

Through this glorious combination of tradition, innovation, people and terroir, Alpha Zeta continues to craft wines that strike a balance between approachability and authenticity – a timeless testament to the beauty of Italian viticulture.
