Product Notes

Ca' del Baio Barbaresco DOCG Asili wine is a laudable vintage from the renowned Italian vineyards. Produced with Nebbiolo grapes, it exudes intense, clean aromas of raspberry, cherry, and subtle hints of vanilla spice. A vibrant ruby red colour with a brilliant garnet hue, this wine unveils a rich, fresh palate packed with ripe fruits, balanced by an elegant acidity and velvety tannins. The complex finish reveals nuances of sweet spices and white pepper for a memorable aftertaste. A sophisticated wine, it pairs wonderfully with roasts, game, and aged cheeses, enhancing any dining experience.

Tasting Notes

Colour - bright garnet red, with slight orange tinges. Nose intense, with fruity aromas of marasca cherries and hints of violets. Spicy notes of black pepper, liquorice and goudron. Taste - dry, warm and soft, showing a long, rich, smooth flavour.

About the Winery

Ca' del Baio

Nestled amongst the bucolic hills of Piedmont, Italy, you'll find the family-owned Ca' del Baio winery. This charming establishment, situated in the heart of the celebrated Langhe wine-producing region, has a rich history and a deep reverence for the traditions of Italian viticulture.

Found in 1970, Ca' del Baio is the embodiment of the dreams and passion of Giulio Grasso and his wife Luciana. Together they’ve breathed life into a winery that emulates tradition whilst warmly embracing modernity. Over the years, Ca' del Baio has gone from strength to strength, and is now known for its range of exquisite wines - from delectable Dolcettos, to sumptuous Nebbiolos, and the house speciality, delightful Barbarescos.

An intriguing fact about the winery is that it takes its name from "baio", the Piemontese term for bay horse, a tribute to rural roots and the region’s equestrian heritage. Guided tours are available at the estate for those eager to delve deeper into the story behind the vineyard and its delightful wines, and with 4 generations of the Grasso family having tended the vineyards, you will not be left wanting for stories.

However, it's not just the history that sets Ca' del Baio apart: it’s the family's commitment to sustainability that truly shines. They champion traditional viticultural methods, which are respectful of nature; aiming to preserve the land for future generations.

To fully beacon in the Ca' del Baio experience, a tasting in the renovated 19th-century farmhouse turned tasting room is a must. Overlooking the verdant vineyards, this room offers an immersive experience, where tradition meet modernity and wine lovers can revel in the complexities of Piemontese wines.

The Ca' del Baio winery serves as a testament to the Italian spirit of unity, tradition and respect for nature. It offers not only premium produce but also a unique experience that honour the timeless tradition of winemaking.
