Product Notes

Greystone Vineyard Ferment Pinot Noir is a flavourful, unique New Zealand wine. Sourced from the promising Waipara Valley, this garnet hued nectar exudes an expressive bouquet of dark cherries, spices, and earthy undertones. The palate presents a harmonious blend of fruit richness and elegant tannins, creating a luxurious complexity. Its organic cultivation, wild-fermentation method, and French oak maturation process imbue it with a distinctive earthiness that sets it apart. Despite its robust flavours, the Greystone Vineyard Ferment Pinot Noir maintains an intriguing subtlety, making it a perfect companion to a hearty meal. A benchmark of Kiwi viticulture.

Tasting Notes

Graceful, pure & enchanting in the mouth with fine, silky tannins and a freshness that belies the density on the finish. A delicate nose of cinnamon and cigar-box spice with length, mineralilty and dark berries on the palate.

About the Winery

Greystone

Nestled in the mesmerising rolling hills of North Canterbury, New Zealand, lies the breathtakingly beautiful estate of Greystone Wines. Established in 2004, it has rapidly risen to the forefront of fine wine production. Its backdrop, the dramatic limestone hills, not only provides a scenic vista but also influence the unique character of the wines produced there.

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard is spread across 40 hectares and flourish in diverse soils, from windblown loess to clay and limestone, giving the wines a distinct terroir. The winery practices organic viticulture, and the vineyard thrives on its elevated position, absorbing the surrounding terroir into each grape's core. Greystone’s team passionately fosters the vines, ensuring wines filled with the essence of their natural surroundings.

At Greystone, each vine is hand-tended, and the grapes handpicked, allowing for a meticulous attention to detail. From these carefully chosen parcels, gifted winemaker Dom Maxwell crafts wines that radiate a sense of place. While primarily known for its exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the winery also creates beautiful Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc.

The team’s dedication to sustainably producing intricately layered wines certainly resonates in the international awards and accolades! received. Nonetheless, at the core of Greystone is its devotion to express the environment from whence their wines originate. Through holistic farming practices, innovative winemaking methods, and resolute dedication, Greystone bottles the spirit, intensity, and beauty of North Canterbury into every vintage.

Greystone is not simply a place where excellent wines are made, but also a tranquil venue that offers farmhouse accommodation and wine tasting sessions.
