About the Winery

Buitenverwachting

Realising the tradition of a 200-year-old vineyard, Buitenverwachting winery boasts breathtaking ambience fused with tantalising wines. Located in the heart of Constantia, the oldest wine-growing region in South Africa, the winery is an encapsulation of heritage and timeless elegance.

Endowed with a mesmeric landscape, which serves as a scenic woo to wine lovers, the winery practises an alchemical blend of modern techniques with classic winemaking methods. Buitenverwachting, a Dutch word translating to 'Beyond Expectation' lives up to this motiff in every essence.

Managed by the Mueller family since 1980, the vineyards at Buitenverwachting are rooted in granite soil. Chief winemaker, Brad Paton, with his skilled team, crafts each bottle with meticulous precision to ensure that the wines surpass the expectations of guests and critics alike. The resultant wines are eloquent, embodying the soil and the climate impeccably and offering a sensuous journey that is difficult to forget.

The tasting room at Buitenverwachting allows you to indulge in their exclusive wines while savouring panoramic views of the vineyard and mountains: It is indeed a symphony of the senses. To heighten the gastronomical pleasures, the on-site restaurant serves an array of tantalising global cuisines that perfectly complement the wines.
