Groot Constantia Merlot is an exquisite South African wine characterized by its rich ruby colour and soft textures. It offers a sensational bouquet of ripe fruit aromas, prominently plums and cherries, layered with subtle hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. This full-bodied Merlot possesses a well-rounded structure with beautifully integrated oak and ripe, soft tannins which lead to a smooth, lingering finish. It pairs well with hearty dishes like roast beef or lamb. This outstanding Merlot from Groot Constantia, South Africa's oldest vineyard, is lauded for its outstanding consistency in quality and exquisite palate.

Tasting Notes

The 2017 is a rich and ripe Merlot delivering aromas of sun ripened plum, mocha and dark chocolate enveloped in delicate hints of oak spice, tobacco and cinnamon. The palate of ripe black fruits and subtle oak is framed by firm tannins through to a lingering finish.

Groot Constantia

Groot Constantia winery, founded in 1685, is South Africa's oldest producing winery and a national monument. It lies at the heart of the historical Constantia Valley, around 15km from the vibrant city of Cape Town.
