Product Notes

COS Frappato IGP is a Sicilian treasure, originated from Vittoria, Italy. Its charmingly bright, vibrant ruby hue envelopes the senses with rich fragrances of wild strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, and sweet blooms. The wine is alluringly unfiltered and organic, preserving its natural flavours. On the palate, COS Frappato offers a lovely balance of acidity and softened tannins, tinged with juicy notes of red fruit, fresh floral nuances and a hint of spice. This delightful light-bodied wine is defined by its remarkable freshness and refined elegance, ideally paired with pasta dishes, roasted meats or cheeses. Its unique character captures the pure essence of Sicily.

Tasting Notes

Cos Frappato, vibrant, strawberry, clean and juicy, Natural Sicilian red wine. Frappato has a warm ruby colour, not especially dense but bright and truly red, without blue or purple tones, even though it is still a young wine. The aromas are charming: fragrant wild strawberries and hint of candied orange peel and light spice, maybe cinnamon. The polished texture is silky but definite, with a fine balance of clear fruit and structure (tannins and acidity) to give it depth and length.. It is unoaked, complex and layered, juicy but not simple.

The name COS represents the initials of its founders - Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Cirino Strano. Young visionaries who took the bold step to venture into the then untapped Sicilian viticulture.

The wines from COS emanate a distinct character embodying the careful selection of grape variety, diligent production method and a delicate ageing process. The Amphora line in particular has gained them much fame, as the wine undergoes fermentation in terracotta amphorae, a traditional approach that allows the flavours to develop to their full potency thereby enhancing the wine’s inherent qualities.
